Gardening an instrument of grace

I had actually picked up a new hobby since I moved into this new neighbourhood on 10 Jan 2010.   I had asked myself why?  Why should I "waste" the time that I could use for other pursuits?  My answer?  Maybe I started planting to follow the crowd, since my sister is doing it and since friends are doing it.  Then slowly I began to realize... gardening is therapeutic, it is relaxing, it improves my mood, it gives me something to look forward to and most of all it gives me much joy in seeing the plants grow and flower.

Everything that slows us down and forces patience, everything that sets us back into the slow circles of nature, is a help. Gardening is an instrument of grace - May Sarton
