Appreciate the persons around you

Brief translation:

Appreciate the persons around you who nag you.
Having someone nagging you, correcting you and chiding you
Is actually a such a blessing.

Do not wait for the day when the nagging stops, then only would you realize that
actually the person is the most important person in your life.

My beautiful coral vine

Coral vine/ Honolulu creeper/ Mexican creeper
Whenever I see this plant I will tear up although the event happened more than 50 years ago!

"WHO put this in the vase?  It is an ugly wild plant.  Throw it away!"  Then I meekly went in front  to the Teacher's table and took out the flowers from the vase, while being very self-conscious that 30 pairs of eyes of my classmates were looking at me, with some sneering away, or so I imagined.  The next day I was so ashamed to come to school that I pretended to be sick.

The class teacher made it a rule that every week someone in the class would have to bring some flowers for the Teacher's table.  My classmates used to bring  bunches of roses, orchids, daisies, chrysanthemums, with some even bringing professionally arranged bouquets of flowers.  When it came to my turn I did not even tell my mother because I knew she could not afford to buy flowers for me to bring to school.  So the smart little girl in me decided to cut a bunch of coral vine from the bushes that were growing wild at  the roadside on my way to school.

I wonder if the Teacher had ever realized that what she did was very wrong? Down the memory lane this is something that I have not forgotten.

          Suraya Woon Haha this really brought back memories for me. When I was little about 6 years old and staying in Sabak Bernam, our neighbour's son who was a teenager maybe about 16, used to frighten me out of my wits by doing that every now and then. After that I decided to learn. I practised on my own for many hours and finally mastered the technique. Then one day I tapped him on the shoulder when he was sitting in his garden.He looked back and yelled out in fright.I got my revenge.

          You haste away so soon

          I just could not resist recording the beauty of my Jasmine plant that bloomed so profusely today.  If only I could record its fragrance too.  Unfortunately the flowers survive only for 2 days.

          Fair daffadils, we weep to see
          You haste away so soone;
          As yet the early-rising sun
          Has not attained its noone.
          We have short time to stay as you,
          We have as short a spring;
          As quick a growth to meet decay
          As you or anything."

          Ou relationship to the planet need not be zero sum

          My plants

          “The single greatest lesson the garden teaches is that our relationship to the planet need not be zero-sum, and that as long as the sun still shines and people still can plan and plant, think and do, we can, if we bother to try, find ways to provide for ourselves without diminishing the world. ”
