Purifies the air and wards off negative energies

I am very proud of the fact that this peace lily plant appeared in my back lane several years ago, probably from seeds brought by the birds. The leaves are beautiful but it has never sprouted flowers, until several days ago. It's believed to bring good vibes and positive energy.  It's a picture of grace.

No person will love you like your mother will

The fate of a mother is to wait for her children. You wait for them when you’re pregnant.

You wait on them when they get out of school. You wait on for them to get home after a night out.

You wait on them when they start their own lives.

You wait for them when they get home from work to come home to a nice dinner.

You wait for them with love, with anxiety and sometimes with anger that passes immediately when you see them and you can hug them.

Make sure your old mom doesn't have to wait any longer.

Visit her, love her, hug the one who loved you like no one else ever will.

Don't make her wait, she's expecting this from you.

Because the membranes get old but the heart of a mother never gets old.

Love her as you can.

No person will love you like your mother will.

Her resilience

What I love most about the Pink Lady or Callisia Repens is the fact  that although it looks so delicate, it is actually very resilient at the same time.  After a bout of snail attacks, my little pink ladies survived  and are looking radiant again.

Six + 2 + 1

Epiphyllum Oxypetalum, the Dutchman's pipe cactus, princess of the night or queen of the night, is a species of cactus. It rarely blooms and only at midnight, and its flowers wilt before dawn.   Usually my plant only produces a single flower at a time. In June I was lucky to have 2 flowers blooming at the same time.  On 5 August I had six flowers opening at the same time, followed by 2 more on 6 August and 1 more on 7 August.  A sight to behold!

Letting go

With a heavy heart we bade goodbye to this young lady.  You have served the family well for 18 years and now it's time to let you go to someone else who can give you a new life and look after you better than me.

Romance in Malaya

This book,  Romance in  Malaya, published by Nanyang Press Singapore in 1956 carried 16 short stories, one of which, entitled, "Ten Years of Life by the Riverside"  was written by my late father.    The short story was a reminiscence of 10 years of his life and his experiences with the local culture, in different areas of the country, which all happened to be by some riverside.

My late father had frequently contributed short stories and articles to local newspapers.  But we were too young then to know what he wrote about and too young then to have made any attempt to keep what he wrote.

After the rain

After a day of cloud and wind and rain

Sometimes the setting sun breaks out again,

And touching all the darksome woods with light,

Smiles on the fields until they laugh and sing,

Then like a ruby from the horizon's ring,

Drops down into the night.

Plants given away

It may sound ridiculous that I miss my plants if they were given away, often wondering if they are doing well.

2 pots of Pink Lady given away to my immediate neighbour when they moved
                       house last month.
