Very sad!

I copied this from the Group Facebook account of my housing area:

Lau Guanyan:  "Muslims will agree with poisoning the dogs...but...think about this... most Muslim house owners let their cats loose shitting everywhere even in the porch and the football field..it's like you have to dodge "mines" while playing football..."

Lau Guanyan:  "Especially my neighbour's cat and some other cats along 11/13. It's super irritating"

Lau Guanyan: " I've been staying here for ten years and I know what happens...there were less Muslims back then= less cats or none. But now...some of the Muslims do have cats...but these cats multiply and eventually became stray cats...now...who to blame cuz almost every morning, my porch smells like crap..I'm sorry if this is offensive" 25 March at 21:35 · Like

Well...I happen to be the Muslim neighbour who owns a cat and who moved in next to his house 5 years ago.  I try to be a good neighbour, even clearing up the sweet wrappers and other plastics that he has a habit of throwing about outside the house and when I water my plants I also water his mum's plants that they grow outside. But now I feel so un-welcome. His  remarks are very racist too. Very sad for the future generation!

How Old Is Old Age?

I just came across an article entitled  How old is old age?

I reproduce here some  of the readers' interesting comments to the article.

"It’s all a matter of how people take care of themselves and how much they continue to be engaged in living".

"Consider yourself old when you accept senior citizen discounts, eat dinner by six o’clock, doze off in the presence of others, have a personal relationship with a pharmacist, deal with bladder control, prostate or cataract issues, and the hair in your ears and nose is growing faster than the hair on your head."

"I am almost 72, but could pass for 55. I am still a natural brunette, and play golf/and/or tennis daily,. I’m fairly competitive in both. Joined a downhill ski racing team when I retired at 55, and raced 5 years , till I moved to FL. I honestly feel healthier and happier now than when I was 40! I think getting out and doing something active daily helps a lot! Also learning new things, keeping socially active, doing volunteer work, challenging your brain– (sudoku anyone?), etc. A positive attitude helps a lot, too!"

"I believe that old age should be defined by how a person is feeling, not by the age. If a person takes care of their body and continues to be active and alive they could be well into their 90s before they are feeling their actual age."

"Why worry about age if we can kick the bucket at any moment?
Just live your life and stop worrying about age!"

Joining in the February festivities

When my computer broke down 2 weeks ago I was quite  literally in a panic mode.  No, I am not a computer addict.  It is just that all my data are stored in it and losing those information would pose some inconvenience.  Fortunately, I got it back today with all the data intact, albeit poorer by several hundred dollars.  That explains too why  I had not made any entry to this blog for a while.

Well, 19 and 20 February was Chinese New Year.  Our family decided to join in  the holiday fun by taking a short trip.  Quite unforgettable was the hotel in Penang  which easily has one of the best breakfast spreads.

I took  these pictures of the breath-taking sunset as seen from
the hotel beach
Another unforgettable event was our short stopover in Parit Buntar, a little town in Perak where I spent my childhood years 50 years ago!  Sadly the charming little town had been cannibalized by development, with only a few of the old landmarks remaining.

The Hotel celebrated the CNY by having the lion dance and all
the guests joined in the fun
